Abstract

This work analyzes literature concerning social representation of mental illness, with a specific reference to the impact of mass media. The review explores how mass media affect people’s opinion, encouraging social stereotypes and collective representations by the depiction of mental illness. This work shows that terminology is a starting point. Moreover, the review includes a focus on children dedicated TV programs.
