Abstract

This recent publication arises in relation to a Research Article published in Phenomena Journal in 2021 and represents a further deep reflection regarding the effectiveness that a type of Integrated Treatment could have towards both Axis I and Axis II Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder of the DSM-V in adolescent and/or young adult individuals with High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorders. As a result of the above, within this research article, we aim to investigate, further, the specific Clinical Case of A., which has already been mentioned in the previous publication; A. is a young adult with High-Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder attending the Autism Day Care Center, who, coinciding with the look-down period caused by the pandemic, begins to manifest a symptomatology that characterizes an Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. Therefore, initially, in the previous article, we set out to make a reflection on the use of possible Hypotheses and Methods of both Observation and Intervention that could be functional and expendable in relation to both the specific Clinical Case of A. and in relation to clinical cases similar to this one and which see, therefore, the integration of different approaches such as: the ABA, the Humanistic-Existential Approach; the Ellis Cognitive-Rationalist Approach (ABC Model) and/or the Cognitive-Constructivist Approach and, finally, the Integrated Gestalt Approach. In this article, we also aim to make new Intervention Hypotheses through the use of innovative, safe and revolutionary Therapeutic Processes such as Interpersonal Emotional Schema work and DBR (Deep Brain Reorienting) integrated with the ASI Therapeutic Approach of Sensory Integration and the Integrated Gestalt Approach. To date, it is found that the above Therapeutic and Rehabilitation Pathway has definitely enabled A. to be able to live a functional, rewarding and dignified lifestyle in the here and now.
