Abstract

The mind is continuously immersed in an environment full of stimuli that it reorganizes and interprets.  A strong impact on people's minds is given by the association of images and sounds. The study, conducted on 71 subjects of different ages, initially proposes the sequential viewing of images only and subsequently the same images associated with soundtracks. The work shows that the elderly and half of the young volunteers immediately understand the story by observing the sequence of images. The other half of young people radically modify the process of global understanding and signification by observing the same sequence of images associated with the soundtracks.
