Abstract

Scientific research on lavender psychological effects has started recently.

However, there is a long tradition of its usage which highlights that lavender essential oil has a significant influence on psychological states. Specifically, we consider some recent studies which demonstrated the effects of Lavender Angustifolia essential oil on anxiety, depression and sleep quality in adults and elderly patients, in women in post – partum, in patients on haemodyalisis or hospitalized in intensive care unit, patients with GAD or MADD. The administrations we looked at were inhalation, massage or ingestion, specifically, we also collected the latest trials on the administration of Silexan®. We emphasize the benefits of Lavender and the near absence of significant side effects compared to common medications used to treat anxiety, depression and sleep disorders.
