Abstract

This work focuses on the experience and psychological therapeutic treatment of pregnant women and their relationship with the fetus; in addition this study analyses the deep changes triggered by pregnancy and motherhood, including various psychological discomforts, usually transient and compatible with the adaptation to the new situation. The percentage of pregnant women and new mothers suffering from psychological disorders either during the pregnancy or after the birth has to be taken into account, as it is considerably high. Discussing the issue with a preventive aim, providing scientific information, alongside a potential therapeutic treatment plan, could be a key element to healthy women and children, and the family unit too.

Key Words: Perinatal; Psychological therapeutic treatment; Pregnant.
